Immersive Preview: Magic On Ice 2025 in Lucheng Captivates Audiences

On Nov 29, Beijing hosted the launch ceremony of the International Platinum Figure Skating Gala—a significant new event in ice sports. Exclusively hosted by China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CAEG), the event aims to create a premium platform combining top-level competition with artistic performance. The main competition is scheduled to officially commence in April 2026.

As a launch highlight and innovative pilot project, the immersive micro ice show Magic On Ice 2025: Seeking Ice in Lucheng premiered the same day at the Lucheng Public Fitness Center Ice Rink in Tongzhou District. Featuring an"on-ice seating" design, the performance delivered a unique viewing experience and served as the Gala's first high-profile preview event.

High-End Platform Integrating Competition and Performance

At the launch, CAEG representatives introduced the Gala's core concepts. Designed to align with China's national strategy for high-quality development of winter sports, the event adopts an innovative "competition + performance integration" model. It aims to break traditional boundaries and create a comprehensive stage that supports both athletic excellence and long-term career development for elite skaters.

"The International Platinum Figure Skating Gala represents an important step for China in advancing the industrialization and internationalization of ice artistry," the organizers stated.

Immersive Preview Show Captivates Audience

Serving as a vivid preview of the Gala's artistic direction, the evening performance of Magic On Ice 2025: Seeking Ice in Lucheng reached a climax with its "immersive micro-theater" concept.

Co-hosted by CAEG and Beijing Beitou Sports Industry Co., Ltd., and guided by the Chinese Figure Skating Association and the Beijing Olympic City Development Association, the production was created by Beijing Yixiang Ice &Snow Fashion Culture Co., Ltd.

The show placed the audience directly on the ice surface, creating an intimate viewing distance within 10 meters. European Championships winner Mark Kondratiuk, Russian National Champion Sofia Akateva, and other international stars performed alongside top Chinese athletes. Their exquisite skills and expressive artistry were delivered at arm's length, while synchronized lighting, music, and skating traces created an immersive spectacle blending athletic intensity with artistic beauty.

Series of Pre-Event Activities Announced

The launch ceremony also unveiled the Gala's lineup of pre-event activities.

In December, the Gala will collaborate with the Beijing Olympic City Development Association to hold four public skating classes across four Beijing districts. Outstanding young participants will be selected as "Little Ice Ambassadors" for the 2026 main event.

Starting January 2026, a series of public engagement activities— including logo design solicitation and volunteer recruitment—will be rolled out to build momentum leading up to the April opening.
A New Chapter for China's Ice Show Industry

This coordinated initiative signals a new stage in China's development of integrated ice sports and performance events. Through strategic early promotion and a well-structured activity plan, Magic On Ice 2025: Seeking Ice in Lucheng has ignited audience excitement and laid a strong market foundation for the upcoming International Platinum Figure Skating Gala—an event set to become a major highlight on next year's ice sports calendar.
