The inaugural Sino-Western Classical Arts Week opens at Guangzhou Opera House
Curated by China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CAEG), "Treasured Heritage, New Beginnings: Inaugural Sino-Western Classical Arts Week at Guangzhou Opera House" opened on Dec 2.
The Arts Week featured an innovative "exhibition-plus-performance" format. Its exhibition centerpiece, "Winter Collection: CAEG Art Collection Exhibition" ran until Dec 14.
The exhibition presented 9 original Chinese ink paintings and 31 woodblock prints, including:
•Freehand flower-and-bird paintings by Qi Baishi such as "Joy on the Eyebrows", "River Shrimp", and "Loofah Trellis", and by Wu Changshuo such as "Gourd" and "Plum Blossoms";
•Poetic landscape paintings, including "High Autumns of the Gorge" by Song Wenzhi and "Rejoicing at the Waves of Rice and Beans" by Qian Songyan;
•Works of humanistic elegance, including "Herding Donkeys" by Huang Zhou and "Autumn Splendor" by Wei Zixi.

An auxiliary exhibition area provided thematic panels and detailed artwork interpretations, enriching the cultural context.
On the evening of the same day, another highlight of the Arts Week—the "Domingo Legend Concert"—was staged in the Opera Hall.
Drawing on CAEG’s global arts network, the Arts Week exemplifies the connection between high-end cultural resources and Guangzhou's urban needs. It also serves as an important platform for revitalizing traditional culture while promoting dialogue with Western classical arts.
